Fundraiser for the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke included charity golf tournament, dinner and silent auction

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Nationwide Marketing Group announced today that the 2nd Annual Tee Off Against Brain Cancer event – presented by NTT Data, Nationwide Marketing Group and AT&T – has raised $400,000 to support pediatric brain tumor research at Duke University Health System’s Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. The event was held April 25, 2019, at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, N.C.

“Brain cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer of children, and more than 28,000 kids across the country are living with a brain tumor today,” said Tom Hickman, president of Nationwide Marketing Group and chairman of the Tisch Brain Tumor Center’s Business Executive Committee. “This money will help the team at Duke continue its work of developing more innovative, less invasive treatments for these young warriors. Their work is life-changing, and we are honored to help support it.”

Tee Off Against Brain Cancer included a charity golf tournament and dinner with silent auction. The event served as the kick-off for a weekend-long celebration of brain cancer patients, including the annual Angels Among Us 5K and Walk of Hope for brain cancer survivors, their families and their friends.

“Thanks to the efforts of our Business Executive Committee and all of our generous supporters, we were able to make the weekend an unparalleled success for our patients, families, doctors and nurses,” said Ellen Stainback, director of external relations for the Tisch Brain Tumor Center. “These funds will allow us to offer better diagnostics, innovative new treatments and – most importantly – hope to these most special of patients. We could not be more grateful for the support.”

In addition to the presenting sponsors, supporters included Whirlpool, O’Rourke Sales Company, Tempur Sealy International, Inc., LG and Samsung (course sponsors); Electrolux, Synchrony and PerfectVision Manufacturing (lunch sponsors); DSI Systems, Pro Am Golf, Restonic, Wells Fargo Retail Services, TCL North America, AT&T, GE Appliances, WarnerMedia, Dave and Toni Robison, Ronni Sarmanian in honor of James Hebert, Brad Bentley in memory of Zack Charlton, Maggie and Buck Robison, The Shou Family, Dolores and Walt Dunnigan, Carol and Bill Taylor in memory of Mark L.
